“Art, for me, is more than just an ability – it is a trusted friend and a gift for everyone”
An award-winning artist with thirty years’ experience, Jim Doran worked in Newcastle before moving to Devon. A change of location and scenery brought about changes to his method, subject and media – shifting from watercolour studies of urban cityscapes to natural landscapes in pastel.
His cycle Seven Days on Dartmoor will be on display in Artizan’s Main Gallery in March 2017, as a part of our 2017 Solo Series. He will exhibit alongside Paul Ansell in the Artizan Garden Gallery.
The exhibition will run from 28th February – 30th March with a ‘Meet the Artist’ private viewing on 3rd March.
About the Work
"Some years ago, I walked across Dartmoor for seven days and nights as part of a charity fundraiser. Along the way, I sketched scenes which would have been impossible to capture on a simple day trip. Seven Days on Dartmoor encapsulates and portrays some of the magic, mystery, and majesty I witnessed in the wilderness."
